WAVERLY – The 506 Cafe will open again on Tuesday, Aug. 1, after a break in July, at the Waverly Senior Center, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Grilled gourmet burgers, scalloped potatoes, clam chowder and macaroni salad will be served along assorted desserts.
June’s 506 Cafe lunch brought in the most diners so far and volunteers from both organizations are looking forward to another bustling crowd in August.
As a partnership between the Waverly Senior Center and Rally Point CVV the 506 Cafe was created to offer a lunch option in Waverly with a purpose. The 506 Cafe is open to the public on the first Tuesday of the month at the Waverly Senior Center. For $10, one can enjoy a home-cooked meal including drinks and dessert, with all profits going to support Rally Point CVV, serving Cedar Valley homeless veterans, and the Waverly Senior Center, serving area senior citizens.
Funds raised will be split between the Waverly Senior Center and Rally Point CVV each month. Board members hope this becomes not only a consistent source of fundraising, but also a well-liked and go-to option for dining in Waverly each month.
Dates for the remaining 2017 506 Cafe lunches are: Aug. 1, Sept. 5, Oct. 3, Nov. 7 and Dec. 5.
lunch reservations are not required, but help in planning. A private room for up to 10 people is available upon request, ideal for a business lunch meeting. Call 352-5678 for more information or follow the 506 Cafe on Facebook.
